Telning Publishing House · About us
Little stories for growing minds
A small publishing house in Sweden, made by people who love a good question.
Telning Publishing House makes wordless picture books for children aged 0 to 7. Each story is coloured by the child, who then chooses how it ends. Behind the books is a small team of cognitive and behavioural scientists in Uppsala, Sweden.
How is a Telning book made?
Research
We start from what studies say about shared reading, wordless books and talking about feelings.
Story script
One line per picture: what we see, what the character feels, what changes. Then the fork with two endings.
Hand-drawn
Our illustrator draws every page by hand. No AI pictures inside a Telning book.
Tested with families
Real children, real crayons. We change what confuses, and we keep what starts a talk.
Printed
One picture per sheet, printed on one side, so markers do not come through.
Our promises
Honest words
We say what a book is, not what it will do. No big claims, no numbers from studies on a cover.
Hand-drawn books
Every picture inside a Telning book is drawn by a person. No AI pictures inside.
Children's privacy
A story card needs a first name, an age and a drawing. Never a photo of a child. We delete what we do not need.
Quiet emails
We write only when a book is out. No tracking, no cookies on this site.
Why "Telning"?
"Telning" is Swedish for a young shoot, a sapling. In older Swedish it also means a child.
Telning Publishing House is made in Sweden.
